I remember 'Sir' as I used to call him from my days at Harriet Costello School in the 80's. He was my favourite teacher and I have had fond memories ever since. I had always hoped that I might have bumped into him over the years but it wasn't to be. I'd like to send my regards to Mrs Francis - she might remember me - I used to be a menace in her maths class. Best wishes, Simon Aldridge.

From David, who has known Dad since school: Max and I both attended Newtown County Grammar School (Max was a year ahead of me), and we both went on to University at Aberystwyth. While friends away from the sports field, on the football pitch and running track, we were strong competitors. I reflected wryly that, not for the first time, Max has reached the finishing line ahead of me.

Dad died peacefully in his sleep. Mum understands that he is resting upstairs. He is at rest.
